10.23.17 There are times when it's a good thing to step outside the box and try something totally new and different. Never had tinaktak before, in fact never even heard of it, only the ingredient list piqued my curiosity. We really enjoyed this dish, and I wouldn't change a thing. Don't omit the water chestnuts, as I call back that crisis is important to this entree. Nosotros opted to serve this with noodles rather than rice and will do that again. This was a splurge nutritionally, but all things in moderation, right? I certainly can sympathise why this is one of Guam'southward favorite condolement foods, considering information technology's simply apartment out tasty!

Who would have guessed that lemon, soy sauce and tomatoes would combine to make this deliciously different beefiness dish? My girl has dubbed it "Guamburger Helper"!

Wonderful just as written! I'chiliad always looking for a ground beef recipe that isn't mixed with the usual tomato sauce or cream of condensed chemical soup and this was perfect! Nosotros dear coconut and the coconut oil in the rice as suggested past another user here created a great balance! Thank you

I have been cooking recipes on this app for iii years, but I've never left a review until at present. Followed the recipe exactly except for substituting a jalapeno for the pepper. An explosion of flavour and unlike anything I've tasted before. Unabridged family thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you.

OH Human, THIS is FANTASTIC! This was an piece of cake and super tasty dinner. I literally looked in the pantry and saw some coconut milk and had some footing beef, this was the only recipe that came up by ingredient search and I'1000 and so glad it did! The only thing I omitted were the water chestnuts (didn't accept any but would accept been great) and the hot pepper/chilis because that's not our thing. I cooked it pretty much to spec and information technology came out wonderful. The slight changes I did were: I used a can of chopped tomatoes instead of fresh (didn't accept) 2 onions vs one Probably more than green onions than suggested A petty more soy And instead of regular oil for sautƩing, I used raw, unfiltered coconut oil Likewise added some of that (coconut oil) to the rice instead of butter to bring that flavor out. Wow, give thanks you then much for posting this, we all loved it and I'll proceed this as a standby at present. Super easy!

Ya'll this recipe is the flop!! Only thing I changed was I used more meat and used crushed red pepper instead of the chile peppers. We ate it over rice and loved it. I made certain to let it simmer for a skilful 45 minutes to really get the flavors going. This is a new favorite in my world!!

This night was the 2d time that I fabricated this. The first time I made it without any changes. Information technology was actually skillful! My family said information technology tasted better than the eating place versions they had eaten. Tonight I made it again but I added a medium sized eggplant and put only 2 pocket-size donne hotpeppers, not smashed. And instead of ground beefiness, I used ground chicken, a picayune more that a pound. It came out perfect, not greasy or oily at all. Finally, instead of using canned string beans, I used the local long beans and cut them into ane inch bite size pieces. Adjacent time I will go far for our dinner guests too. Give thanks you Sheila!!

Really good!! Like shooting fish in a barrel too! Didn't have water chestnuts or lite soya sauce(used regular), didn't matter, whole family was happy! Flavor was fantabulous. Don't be shy on the veggies, ate information technology with rice, very tasty.

This recipe is amazing in every way. I go far all the fourth dimension! It is easily Whole30/low-carb. It checks all the boxes for my family unit: fast, few ingredients, everybody eats it, salubrious. For so few spices information technology's so flavorful! I prefer kokosnoot aminos and I don't cook everything separately but otherwise everything is the same. Cook beef, add onions, add veggies and sauce. Once dark-green beans are ready, add kokosnoot milk and serve!

Yummy dish. I fabricated some changes. I add ginger instead of chilis, stewed tomato without the sauce considering I don't have cherry tomato.

So skilful and so easy. We loved this. I followed this recipe except for omitting the h2o chestnuts and the hot pepper but simply because I didn't accept any around. Looking forward to making this again and using the other ii ingredients. Thanks for this recipe!

After reading the recipe and knowing that we love this blazon of dish, ( Thai, Burmese...)I made information technology terminal night since I had all of the ingredients. The only substitution I fabricated was to use coconut foam rather than milk and a good corporeality of Sriracha in identify of the chilie. We served it over wild grain rice and it was AMAZING!!!!!!!! Oh, I also threw in a few crimini mushrooms because they needed to be used.

My brother made this the last time I visited Guam (home). Decided to get in (once again) but I added grilled Chinese eggplant. My son doesn't like kokosnoot simply he loves this dish and scarfs it up in minutes! A definite keeper!

Excellent dish using hamburger. I made information technology just similar information technology said except I used jalapeƱo peppers considering I already had them. I will definitely make this again. H2o chestnuts are a must!

Nosotros loved this recipe! I was looking for something different to make with ground beef and happened to take a leftover lemon available. Served it with some jasmine rice and the whole pot disappeared! I admit that I did the whole recipe in i pot, didn't bother removing the cooked basis beef and information technology turned out slap-up! My fifteen twelvemonth onetime said it is a new favorite! Super easy and has a not bad tangy flavour! Cheers!

Unusual merely it was succulent. We added a lilliputian Sriracha and hoisin sauce that made information technology even better.
07/18/2020
Different. Kokosnoot & beef- an amazing combo. We put information technology over rice.

I had never heard of this just wanted to try something different! it is fantastic

It was interesting; better than expected, but an odd combination of ingredients. I really wasn't digging the green beans. I'thousand glad we were able to try something unlike but I probably wouldn't arrive again.

I was excited to try something different and unique with ground beef but this wasn't information technology for my family. I followed the directions other than adding some matchstick carrots with the greenish beans for added color and veggies. I think what made this inedible for us was the lemon juice with the kokosnoot milk. I juiced i whole lemon as directed calculation information technology when it said in two different steps merely the tart/acid mixed with the coconut milk (I used unsweetened b/c it didn't specify) just did not go good together. Nosotros ended upwardly putting a frozen pizza in the oven.

This is really neat! Piece of cake to make and tastes wonderful—just don't exit the vegetable chopping till the last infinitesimal like I did and allow some of the other stuff burn. I might advise not letting the water chestnuts simmer for every bit long so that they stay crunchy.
08/11/2020
Delicious! Great for something different. I used lite kokosnoot milk and a Serrano pepper. It was hearty and everyone enjoyed this. You could add more veggies similar carrot or celery if you want to and information technology would still exist tasty.

Pretty much followed the recipe every bit written....except that I used coconut oil instead of olive oil. Didn't have greenish onions, so used a big yellowish onion instead. Side by side time, I will try information technology with both light-green and yellowish onions. I added some small sliced carrots, too. It was very tasty and all of my family enjoyed it.

Love this dish and will make once again. I followed the directions as written except I substituted asparagus because it was on hand and needed to be cooked. I've never cooked with kokosnoot milk before because I'm not a fan of coconut but found the blend of these ingredients to be delicious. Adjacent time I'll serve over basmati rice. Thank you for this recipe.

This was so good! I had to make some changes due to not having everything. I used a half pound ground venison and 3/4 loving cup tvp to help get the calories down. And then I used roma tomato plant chopped and chopped frozen jalapeno. No water chestnuts then I chopped some peanuts and sprinkled over the finished dish. Even hubby loved it.
01/29/2019
I didnt put the Chile or the chestnuts but it nevertheless turned out good!
04/20/2022
very tasty, mild to medium spicy, I enjoyed this dish and I do recommend it
05/fourteen/2019
family loved this. Will make it again!
01/12/2018
Mode besides salty. I wouldn't use that much soy sauce once again.
04/17/2020
We loved this recipe and fabricated it as written, except I added the sliced dark-green onions and water chestnuts in when calculation the cooked ground beef in at the cease, since we like the water chestnuts and sliced green onion crunchy. Next fourth dimension, I might add some shredded carrots. The recipe had dandy flavor. We will definitely brand this once again.
04/15/2019
Great recipe! I ended up making a couple of minor changes (long story...); I left out the water chestnuts and substituted a thin-sliced jalapeno for the red chili, but it came out groovy just the same. I would add that the bouillon cube probably isn't optional; information technology definitely adds needed table salt to the mix.
11/13/2017
I was excited to try this, simply then end result was really banal. Then you add rice to it and it just gets worse. I'll keep looking for a recipe like to this, merely this one every bit is did not hit the spot.
04/04/2020
This was delicious! Couldn't find the done sail, and so crushed ruddy pepper subbed in, as did coconut foam for the coconut milk (we had it for some other recipe. ) If y'all have picky eaters who don't similar spice, omit information technology and just add a little hot sauce to your serving. We will make this again.
06/xix/2020
Very good!! I needed something different to make with footing beef and this was it!!
07/xiii/2021
Practiced, but pretty salty. Use half the soy sauce, then add fish sauce at terminate to gustatory modality.
